The Royal Hawai’ian Hotel

The Royal Hawai’ian Hotel
2259 Kalakaua Ave
Honolulu, HI

“Treat yourself to an indulgent escape” their website says, and I think they’re “spot on,” as we used to say in the Navy.  While the Moana may be the oldest hotel on Kalakaua Avenue, I suspect the Royal Hawaiian is the most recognized and most famous of Waikiki’s “grand dames.”  It has been featured (if only as a backdrop) in many movies (particularly WWII movies), and its distinctive pink color makes it hard to confuse with any other hotel in the area.  We have never stayed at the Royal Hawaiian, but I promise we’re going to some day.  It is just too much an icon of the Islands not to have stayed in just once.  About that “indulgent escape” — as my wife says, “you only regret the things you don’t do!” Go for it and please let the ‘ohana hear about your experience!
