Marine Corps Base Kāne’ohe

MCB Kāne’ohe is a Marine Corps Base (formerly a Marine Corps Air Station) on the windward side of the island.  Originally a naval air station that (my father flew Martin PBM Mariner “flying boats” out of Kāne’ohe in the late 1940s), the Marines assumed control of the base in 1951.  An interesting historical factoid is that K-Bay was actually bombed a few minutes earlier than Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941.
